Eligibility to Compete

To be eligible to compete in any event run by the VLCC, you must be a member of the Club and hold a current AVCC licence. Membership fees become due and payable on the 1st of January each year, but can be paid anytime after 1 October each year.

To be granted membership of the VLCC, the following age restrictions apply:

Men:         Must be in your 35th year or older, e.g., 35th birthday falls in the calendar year of joining.

Women:  Must be in your 30th year or older, e.g., 30th birthday falls in the calendar year of joining.

Note: Anyone looking to apply for membership with the VLCC after 1 October, will not need to renew their membership on 1 January the following year. The same rule applies for SAVCA licences issued from 1 October to 31 December, however you must meet the age requirement in any given year.

Helmets - AS/NZS 2063 Compliance Requirement
All helmets must meet the AS/NZS 2063 Compliance Requirement.   Helmets that meet this requirement will have one of the following stickers applied on the inside shell of your helmet:

Limited Insurance cover is provided under your annual licence fee.  Some of the insurance cover provided includes:

Death & Permanent Disability - Maximum claimable under this section is $100,000 (reducing to $10,000 for injuries sustained whilst training).

Medical Coverage - Provides 80% reimbursement of any Non-Medicare expenses up to a maximum limit of $3,000 per injury.  $100 excee applies to each claim lodged with the Underwriter.  Coverage is for Non Medicare expenses only which are incurred within 12 months from the date of injury.

- Loss of Income - 80% of your usual weekly salary or $500.00 per week, whichever is the lesser.  Two week waiting period applies.  Benefit is claimable for 52 weeks from date of injury.

- Home Help Expenses - 80% of expenses incurred up to $3,000 per week for every week of continuous temporary disability.

- Public Liability Coverage - The VLCC and its members are insured for any cliams arising from negligence in respect of bodily inujy or property damage, that happen during the period of insurance, caused by an occurrence in connection with our sport.  The coverage provided is for $20,000 any one occurrence with a $500 excess on each and every claim.

- Professional Indemnity Coverage - All coaches and race officials are insured for claims arising from breach of professional duty arisign from negligent acts, errors or omissions in connection with the sport.  The coverage provided is for $5,000,000 in the aggregate.  An excess of $500 applies.
